My family and friends who know my breakup story will tell me, “Let it go already.” Let me tell y’all, I have and that story is the reason I am writing this, but also so no one underestimates my dreams to travel ever again. Warning readers, don’t tell someone they don’t want to travel to valid you wanting to travel and not being able to stay with them, not cool. Always be kind, everyone has big dreams.
I am thankful for the experience and learning a thing or two from it, trust me many lessons have been learned since that terrible night. But, that is for another blog post (probably an advice one, which is what I love most about blogging – learning as I go and sharing it with all of you!). For now, I want to share my traveling dreams with you all – the ones that I can’t wait to see through, but need to learn some stuff, gain life experience and money before that ever happens. I have been on the move between my hometown and college town for four and a half years, I want to enjoy being in one place for awhile – my family, friends, and job – but I’ll always have my dreams and goals in the back of my mind waiting for me.
When most people meet me I just tell them my dream is to go to Paris, although it is, I want to travel to many more places in and out of the States.
Of course, the number of places is likely to change, but I think 15 is a good start. I have also already been to New Orleans (in 2016) and Indiana (when I was three since I have family there), but I want to still make these apart of my travel plans. Like any travel nut, I have an idea of where I want to visit specifically in different places, so I am going to tell you my plans (so far).
I am a movie buff at heart and I love paying attention to where the story is set or looking up where the movie was filmed because my dream is to travel to those kinds of places. I want to share my top two dream travel destinations: Paris and London! We’ve all seen the movies – beautiful scenery, magical experiences, and incredible icons known around the world.
Paris
Let’s start with my dream trip – to stand at the top of the Eiffel Tower. Ah, to see it in person, I am excited! If there is a movie, show, or book based in Paris, you know I’ll be the first to jump on that bandwagon. I am in love with everything Paris, France! Doesn’t everyone dream of seeing the Eiffel Tower in person? Totally normal.
The day that I travel here will be the best day ever, I just know it. My first matter of business is to stand on the Eiffel Tower’s platform and look at the world below. Doesn’t it sound magical? Definitely!
Now, I don’t know what exactly started this dream, but for as long as I can remember I have talked about traveling here one day in my lifetime. I absolutely adore Paris and all it has to offer.
Contrary to popular belief, this isn’t my only travel destination in mind. Although, I am flattered that people associate me with this trip because it is a huge goal of mind, but my dreams range much further than the Eiffel Tower and all its glory – I want to see the world someday!
Yes, my goal is to see the Paris Eiffel Tower – not just the Disney World Epcot one (which is as close as I’ll get for now, and I can’t wait!).
London
My second destination spot will always be London, England, which stems from my love of Disney specifically Peter Pan and TinkerBell. Who doesn’t want to see Big Ben after Peter Pan, Wendy, John, and Micheal stand on the clock before flying to Neverland? Everyone does! The movies may be animated, but this magical place is just as real in real-life as the animators make it look in Peter Pan and other movies based in London. I mean this place is one of the best destinations for a magical story – whether it is about following your dreams, falling in love, or finding friendships – London is the city to be in.
I want to walk down the streets where I remember movies taking place and gasp at the beautiful scenery around me. Pictures just blow me away, I can’t wait to see how the real deal makes me feel.
Of course, I have done a little research on the movies (I’ve seen) set in London because what better way to start my dreams of London than with a movie? No better way. Movies are a way to travel without leaving the couch but in my case, I will eventually leave my couch and go to London. For now, I am traveling and living through the characters in some of my favorite movies or ones I’ve fallen in love with due to the location.
At the top of my list is the very famous film franchise, Harry Potter. Even though they spend little time in London, it is noticed because of the magical King’s Cross Train Station, where Harry and Ron meet for the first time as they try to enter platform 9 and 3/4.
Perhaps there is another popular film that showcases more of London? Yes, there is. Last year, I saw Christopher Robin with my sister when it premiered in Theaters and I remember the location seemed oddly familiar from other Disney movies. I was right. I did some poking around and the movie was actually filmed on location in London.
My favorite picture-perfect place in this movie (in London) is the bench where Pooh Bear reconnects with Christopher Robin, “Scenes filmed inside the private gardens at Merrick Square are extremely picturesque and sweet. This is where Christopher Robin’s tree transports the characters between London and Hundred Acre Wood.” This garden is beautiful and matches the magic that the Christopher Robin storylines bring. London, in general, has that magical feel (as I have mentioned before), but something about this scene makes it extra magical – probably the love and detail these timeless characters bring to the screen.
That wraps up my top two dream travel destinations, what are yours?
